It’s an oral splint worn before planned prosthodontic or orthodontic treatment. Its purpose is to establish correct position of the lower jaw versus the upper jaw
without detriment to the temporomandibular joints and the muscular system. This eventually provides for not only naturally beautiful, but also functional
and stable smile.

Removable, fixed and combined – these are three main types of prosthodontic reconstructions.
Removable reconstructions include e.g. acrylic dentures and partial dentures. They are used mainly when we are unable,
for various reasons, to apply fixed reconstructions in the Patient. In Patients with some missing teeth, these reconstructions are supported on Patient’s own teeth.
Fixed reconstructions are characterised by permanent attachment to your dental tissues and implants. They can restore a single tooth (prosthetic crown), its fragment (veneer, inlay/onlay) or more teeth (a prosthetic bridge supported on your own teeth or on implants, full arch reconstruction).
A combination of the two above-mentioned types of prosthetic reconstructions are combination reconstructions which connect with your teeth or implants trough precise retention items, such as telescopes, bolts, clips.
Although prosthodontic treatment is usually carried out as the final stage of dental treatment, there are some exceptions. Temporary prosthodontic treatment (including e.g. making temporary prosthetic crowns)
is applied in the case of e.g.
significant damage to dental tissues, if the final prosthodontic treatment needs to be conducted before orthodontic treatment,
Patient waiting for implant osseointegration (healing/integration with the bone), due to cosmetic/functional reasons.
